Everything I read about Plato led me to believe he was cool as hell and just based fools left and right.
But I’ve read a couple of his Dialogues and am reading the Republic right now and he just comes across, through Socrates, as a huge fuckin dick. He’s that guy who makes up stories where his opponent says obviously dumb stuff or makes hell of weak arguments just so the narrator can be like HAH! GOT YOU YOU DUMB SHIT HEAD! FUCK YEAH! PLATO RULES AND YOU ARE A DUMB GUY!!! And it’s very clear that it never happened but you just sort of half heartedly laugh and leave the room because God that guy is a douche.
It’s like, yes, definitions are very important and it’s good to re-examine things continually to try to figure out your world, but quibbling over every single thing someone else says simply so you can refute them and be like GOTCHA! GOTCHA!!! He’s that guy that if you have a disagreement with will say YOU JUST HAVE TO ADMIT [this point that has nothing to do with what we’re talking about] then if you do will be very smug as if they were right and you got fucked and they won when really you just did it to shut them up because they’re cocksuckers as a pejorative.
Fuck you, Plato, you sniveling little shit.
